My most successful artwork was my animal morphing project. its not complete yet, but it was most successful because it helped me to grow as an artist by learning how to get through obstacles and learn new techniques. I learned how to make molds and make parts of my clay smooth with a cheese grader thing. I learned how to make its arms and thighs out of slabs.
The project that gave me the most obstacles would be my animal morphing project. I had to make a giant sculpture because I made a big foot. Then as I was progressing with my project I had to make two identicle thighs it took me a week to get them to look almost the same. The first thigh came out good, but the second came out lop-sided so I made another one. Then the new one cave in some what and began to get crooked. So then I made my last thigh and it came out great after so many tries. Then I had problems with the sholders because one was more rounded and the other, but it was a easy fix even though it took three days to fix. I just shaved it with the cheese grader thing until it looked good.
My two art pieces that show my art growth would be my organic and my animal morphing projects. These projects gave me some obstcles to overcome. The obstacles on the organic piece was when i was building it my cactus piece began to shrivel and shrink. So i decided to make my clay cactus look shriveled up and have deeper indentions than what I intended for. Then my animal morphing project had to many obstacles for me to list but here are a few. First my second thigh wouldnt stay on the body and didnt look like the first one. Second the shoulders didnt look the same it made my project looked deformed. Now im making the head and now the whole project wont fit in the kiln at once.
Having a choice in subject matter and what material to use was very effective for me because I could use whatever I needed to get my projects done. I really like having it this way because it would be boring if everyone had to make the same project and look exactly the same, and it would be hard if everyone had to use the same tools for their project and they needed something totally different for their project.
